Update from Sarah Gadd- The Royal International Horse Show

Chris Price

So far team Gadd have been having a great season, despite it not being quite what we had planned considering both Milli and Diaz are out of action, but Roxie has been going out and having fun doing a bit of everything!

The weekend before last I had a very hectic but exciting weekend taking Roxie to The Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead!  We were competing as part of The Royal Oak Riding Club Team in the team jumping competition, along with my sister Sophie, who was also on the team. It was great fun and it’s safe to say Roxie rose to the occasion and put her best hoof forward! She jumped a super clear round in quite a speedy time, I think she enjoyed performing in front of such a big crowd with all eyes on her! Unfortunately we didn’t end up with a team placing but we enjoyed a fantastic day watching the other rounds and of course made our way around the retail village as well, you have to when your surrounded by shops with fantastic deals on offer don’t you?!

For the rest of the summer we are planning on taking things steady as Roxie is starting to slow down a bit now and just goes out to have some fun and normally tags along to competitions with Milli nowadays. Unfortunately Milli is currently out of action but is looking very well and I’m sure with the help of TendonEaze she will be back out competing soon! In the mean time I have been looking at entering Roxie into a retraining of racehorses (RoR) qualifier class, I’ve not competed in the show ring for a few years but I think it’s definitely something Roxie could turn her hoof to since she loves being ‘prettied’ up and showing off her ‘twinkle toes’!
