“Based in the South East, I am currently a final year student studying Biochemistry at The University of Surrey. I have three horses which I compete in eventing and dressage.
Dinero is an 18hh black gelding by the dressage stallion Dimaggio. Previously, I evented Dinero up to BE intermediate level, he then lost his confidence jumping and now we are seeing how far we can progress doing BD. Within a year we went from being 8th at the Novice Winter regionals 2015 to 4th at the Elementary silver BD regionals 2016. We have moved up to Medium level and are working towards Advanced Medium at home.
Nightshade (Edd) is a black 17.2hh gelding. He is a very sensitive horse so we have taken our time with him. I now compete him in dressage where we have qualified for the Petplan National Novice BD championships 2017 and have evented up to BE90.
Crème De La Crème (Crème) is a black 17hh gelding who is part owned by Patricia Cornwell. He is a young horse with a lot of power, and I aim to take him up the eventing levels.
I am very lucky to be trained by my mum Helen Geary and she keeps the horses going whilst I am at university.
Our favourite product is the Movefree Plus. Dinero has always been on this and we really believe it helps him to move so well. Dinero and Crème were also on StrongBone, this was great for Crème as he was still growing. All three of the horses are now on Turmeric, Flax Oil and Garlic.”
We have had a very busy three weeks with lots of competitions in which all three of the horses have had top 10 placings in all of their competitions. First was Chilham Castle BE where Edd (Nightshade II) was in the BE90 and Creme (Creme De La Creme) was in the BE100. Edd finished 2nd […]
Laura entered her first event of the year last week at a rather muddy Tweseldown… “We were really pleased with both horses at Tweseldown last week. They both coped with the very muddy conditions, especially Creme who was 4th from last to go and is normally useless in muddy conditions! They were both clear cross country, […]
Laura’s report from a very competitive Winter Regionals at Merrist Wood with the handsome Dinero: “Dinero was very good at the Regionals. It was a bit odd as my time was 18:30, so we arrived in the dark! First was the Elementary Gold BD Winter Regional, and my aim was to be in the top 10. […]
Laura’s first set of exams in her final year at Uni are out of the way, so it’s all systems go for Edd, Dinero and Crème: “We took Crème and Edd for their first cross country schooling session of the season and for their first fitness work of the year and we took Dinero and […]
Team GH rider Laura Geary has entered an important year in 2017, as she faces the last few months of her University degree. With a dissertation, coursework and exams to contend with, as well as three beautiful horses to develop and compete, she’s certainly going to be busy! “We had a great end to 2016 […]
We have had a great 2016 with all three horses, the year has had many ups and downs, but Dinero, Edd (Nightshade) and Crème (Crème de la Crème) all showed massive improvements by the end of the year. It was a very busy year and we had two horses with us at almost every show. […]
“I am now settling back in at university, this however means that I have very little spare time. So far I have already had 5 essay deadlines, with 3 more to start, and I need to do my dissertation! I am trying to combine this with playing hockey 3 times a week, having a social […]
“I have been back at university for my fourth and final year for 3 weeks now and already have three essays due! A few weeks ago we did our last event of the season with Edd and Crème, both horses did the BE90 at Little Downham. It was the toughest cross country track that we […]
“We have had a great few weeks with Edd (Nightshade)! Firstly he completed his first BE90 at Munstead. Prior to this competition he had never jumped a show jumping course at 90cm before and I don’t even think we’d jumped a 90cm cross country fence before. He was amazing though! We had a 30 dressage, 2 […]
“Last weekend we were at Keysoe with Edd in the BE80 and Crème in the BE90. It was definitely worth the early start and long journey! Creme had a 32 dressage with some really good bits and a few not so good bits, then we had 2 down SJ. We had the second part of […]
“We have had a very busy July and beginning of August, with Dinero at the BD Summer Regionals at Hickstead and Edd and Creme at Chilham and Borde Hill. Dinero was amazing at the BD Summer Regionals at Hickstead, (29th July) we finished 4th in the Elementary (silver). It was a bit frustrating because two […]
“Last weekend we took Edd (Nightshade) to his first ever ODE! Before then he had never done a dressage test on grass, never jumped a course of show jumps on grass (he had only ever jumped a handful of courses), and had never done a cross country course! He didn’t put a foot wrong and […]
Mixed results for Creme: “Recently we have been getting mixed results with Creme. His dressage is constantly improving and so far this season we have had a dressage mark that is less than 30 for every event! His showjumping has also been getting better and better as his canter is becoming more and more balanced. […]
“The last couple of weekends have been very busy, with all 3 horses competing on both weekends. Dinero and Edd have been out doing dressage for the last few weekends. On the bank holiday Monday we went to Cobham Mannor for Edd to do two Novice tests and Dinero to do his first Medium tests! […]
“We had a great day yesterday with Dinero winning both of his Elementary dressage tests and Crème jumped really well at home. Dinero won E40 with 72.74% and E53 with 71.76%. I think this means that we have enough points to qualify us for the BD Elementary summer regionals. Recently we took Dinero’s shoes off […]
“Last weekend we took Crème cross country schooling at Matfield. He was still a bit sticky and unsure to start with, but once he got going he was really good. He jumped a lot more then we would normally ask of him and seemed to be really enjoying it. His next event is Borde Hill […]
“Over the last few weeks Dinero has had his shoes off because he hasn’t got very good feet and he doesn’t need shoes to do dressage; because of this he hasn’t done too much while he gets used to not having the shoes on. I have started to do more work with him again now […]
“Last weekend we had a quiet few days working Dinero and jumping Crème at home. This weekend we took Crème out cross country schooling, it was our first XC schooling session since September and he thought it was very exciting at the beginning! Once he had settled down he was really good and he jumped everything […]
“Our last event of 2015 was a BD show with Dinero, doing our first elementary tests. We won both tests with 70% and 65%. It was a great way to end the year! We are aiming to qualify for the summer regionals at elementary level and then we might have a go at Medium! We also […]
Laura had a great start to the season with Dinero finishing 3rd in the BE 100 at Tweseldown on his dressage score of 23, and Coast finished 9th in the BE90 with a lovely double clear. Laura then took Dinero to the Open Novice at the South of England Horse Trials where they performed a beautiful dressage […]
