“Hello! My name is Sarah and I’m the newest member of the Global Herbs admin & advice team. I’m just finishing my business studies degree at the University of Portsmouth, and I’m very excited to be starting my new role with Global Herbs full time once I finish my exams!
I grew up in Dorset and started riding at the age of 3 on a friend’s cheeky Shetland called Jamie, and I joined the Pony Club and began riding lessons when I was 12 at a local stables. Once I’d finished school I went to college and gained a BTEC National Award in Horse Management and a National Certificate in Photography, before starting my business degree at Portsmouth.
As soon as I could drive I began volunteering at an equine rescue centre where I met Ace, a Welsh Section A stallion with a wonky face who had had very little handling and needed some one to one attention. After 6 months of working with him, his behaviour improved and in 2012 he was rehomed to a lovely family in Wales, and has since been showing at County level.
I then fostered an elderly New Forest gelding called Misty who suffered from Cushing’s Disease and I continued to enjoy a wonderful 4yrs with him. During my time at the rescue centre I came into contact with horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes, all sporting a range of problems from behaviour and mobility to, unfortunately, neglect. Working to help the recovery of the rescue centre residents I have gained quite a bit of knowledge and experience that I can put to use here at Global Herbs.
Unfortunately I don’t currently have any horses or other pets of my own, but with any luck I won’t be animal-free for too much longer!”
