Rebecca Cowderoy Update

“Things are starting to get busy again now after a quiet January. Lisci went to her first competition since September and was a little bit on her toes to say the least which resulted in a lot of tension, particularly in the canter and walk. This lead to big mistakes but her trot work felt fantastic and all the lateral work was much improved on last year. She feels stronger much more supple and finding the work easier than last year. We scored a 9 and lots of 8’s for our trot work, just a shame our usually reliable canter work wasn’t good! I was just pleased to have her back out competing with a lot of positive marks. We just need to put it all together next time, I’m sure there is a 75% test in there somewhere.

I also took her for a lesson with Rhett Bird on Friday which went extremely well and he was very complimentary of how she was looking. He also gave me some very useful exercises and helped me with Lisci’s 1x tempi changes and half steps, I’ve got another lesson booked towards the end of the month.

Rabbit has been ticking over at home since her win at Addington and we’ve been cracking on with the Elementary work. She then has the Winter Regional Championships at Addington on the 26th February in the Novice Gold and Novice Freestyle Gold. I just hope she can put in her usual solid performance. I think she could have a very good year, she’s really come on in leaps and bounds.

March is looking like a very busy month with Myerscough Premier League with Lisci (PSG, Inter 1 & Inter 1 freestyle). I’m looking forward to that but also hoping the weather gets a little warmer. I have also applied to compete Internationally for Great Britain this year – it will be the first time I will have competed Lisci abroad so will be a learning curve and great experience for us both. I’ve only ever competed abroad once in Ireland with ponies.”
