Laura Geary Update

Chris Price

Mixed results for Creme:

“Recently we have been getting mixed results with Creme. His dressage is constantly improving and so far this season we have had a dressage mark that is less than 30 for every event! His showjumping has also been getting better and better as his canter is becoming more and more balanced. However, we have had a few cross country issues,  we think it is as a result of him being very immature mentally as he has sometimes become overwhelmed by the situation and then he just switches off. Since my last blog we have done a BE90 at BCA, and BE80’s at Stratford Hills and Tweseldown. He had mixed results at BCA and Stratford Hills, but then he was really good at Tweseldown! In order to encourage Creme to open up on the cross country we took him to some gallops to canter with another horse.

At Tweseldown our dressage test wasn’t the best test that we have done because Creme seemed a bit distracted but we were still 3rd after the dressage with 27.8, then we just had 1 down showjumping. Then a great clear cross country around a course that was causing a lot of problems, we even had 2.4 too fast time penalties (the gallops must have helped). Overall we finished 5th out of 38 starters. The cross country seemed to be causing a lot of problems with only 13 in my section going clear and 15 being eliminated or retired! I did have to ride Creme hard for some parts of it but he seemed to really enjoy it!”

Edd and Dinero

“Edd and Dinero were out doing BD again, Edd gets better every time out and he won the N22 with 73% (his best mark yet) and he also achieved 70% in N37. Dinero, must have decided to let Edd do better than him, he was very excited and didn’t really listen to me at all. He added an extra movement into his first elementary test by jumping a spot of light in the middle of our medium canter and then doing a flying change! The second test was slightly better, but he still wasn’t completely focused. It was our fault as we didn’t leave him enough warm up time.

Recently we also took Edd cross country training and we have decided to try and event him as he seems to love his jumping now! So he has now been entered into his first ever ODE!”
