Camilla Hardie Update

“Bit of an upside down week for me this week. My aim was Sapey horse trials for Wednesday, but with all the rain they very wisely made the early call to cancel giving me chance to re-plan our week. I booked Somerford Park for Tuesday for XC schooling, sadly Monday night brought with it a bucket load more rain and I received a phone call Tuesday morning saying they had to close the course. Onto Plan C and a quick call to Kelsall to ascertain that they were still open for XC schooling and we were on our way! I just took Beau as our build up to the Mitsubishi Motors Cup is full steam ahead. I wanted to hone our XC skills, practise jumping on grass again and just run through some ditch combinations which has previously produced his stickiest jumps. He was super, really locking on and pulling me into fences. The ground was great considering! Finished our session with a few trips up their 4.5 furlong gallops, which he took all in his stride, hoping he is fit enough now!

Onto Wednesday and another trip out in the lorry, this time for some midweek BS, a show with a very civilised start time of 12pm! Beau was not quite as squeaky as usual after the previous days exuberances, but jumped a faultless round in a strong 1.05m class. We weren’t fast enough but I was very pleased that after a day of XC and galloping he was happy and careful enough to show jump, the makings of a 3 day horse! Dougal had no such excuse and still bashed a pole in the 1.05m, and had the audacity to take the first 2 fences with him in the Newcomers before he remembered the idea was to clear them and jump a super round from then on!

Beau is still doing well on Global Herbs MuscleUp, which I will leave him on until after Badminton, and he is also having a further month of OldAge to ensure he reaches Badminton feeling the best he could. He has a real shine to his coat and is looking strong and fit *frantically touching wood*.”
