Camilla Hardie Update

“Well, this weekend was one of those to put down as ‘a learning experience’. Off to Bold Heath with Beau entered in his first Novice and Bailey entered in the 4 year old class.

Beau did a nice dressage, no spooks for a change to get 30 which was pleasing for his first Novice, I think the extra moves concentrated his mind better! Onto the showjumping which was quite a technical track, I noticed several having the first fence down, which I couldn’t work out. As per form, despite having a good stride and canter, Beau uncharacteristically had the first down them jumped a super round. I then decided not to run cross country, although a lovely track I felt the ground may be a little hard for his first run.

Bailey couldn’t believe his eyes going into the dressage warm up, with horses all over the place. Our warm up was a bit chaotic but he really tried hard in his test to get 32, his issue being that he is on the forehand just due to balance and strength. Onto showjumping, sadly didn’t go to plan, he was jumping so big I lost my steering and jumping huge into the one stride double we couldn’t make the jump out. I am somewhat annoyed with myself, as we got a big fat E and couldn’t go XC, but ‘its all learning’. His heart is in it but the rest of his body still needs time to catch up!”
