Hi ho, hi ho it’s off to Burghley we go. However before that a quick update on the rest…
We went to Gatcombe festival of British Eventing. My mother informed that big Gatcombe isn’t in the same place as big Gatcombe but it’s no worries as I see Michael Jackson, a fellow eventers and follow him. I duly get Watt ready for his test and have a look around and notice that we are surrounded by trailers so I ask Michael what was going on only to be told I am in the lorry park for the Burghley Young event horse and the pony club games and that my dressage was a 20 min hack away on the other side of the park or I have to drive 10 minutes, oh bum. Mad panic and no warm up later Watt does a tense test. Tigga was wild and did an awful test. Then the thunder started and the rain, Watt knocked the treble down, I got completely soaked. It them filters to the lorry park that someone has been struck by lighting, I immediately loaded up my metal shod ponies onto my rubber tired lorry and took them home, only to find that the person struck was a member of the hen do I joined that night. Woke up after coming home from Gatecombe with Tig, only to find he has a quarter crack and vet and farrier said better to save him for Burghley. So no plaques for me.
Back to Aston, my favourite event, for the third time this year. I took Watt, Donk and Otto. All did fab tests, Watt went double clear to end 4th, yay! Donk and Otto both had a pole and good clear cross-country rounds.
So it’s finally time, Burghley is upon us, having done the virtual course walk and decided on fences of death, I think we are ready. To save his foot Tigga has been swimming at Albie’s every other day and we are doing our final gallop tomorrow. So exciting!!
