Sarah’s Marathon

IMG-20170409-WA0004Yesterday was marathon day and I’m very pleased to let you know that I completed the Brighton Marathon, yes all 26.2 miles!! I finished in the top 1/3 of under 35 year olds and in the top 25% of women runners so I could20170409_202901n’t be happier with how I did, especially for my first marathon!

It was far tougher than I had ever imagined, not that I was expecting it to be easy in the first place! My back wasn’t playing ball at all and from mile 17 the pain in my lower back was unbelievable but I was determined to finish and I did! Whether I will do another one, ask me that question in a few days time when hopefully I’m feeling a little less stiff, sore and tired….

Despite the pain it was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the crowd was amazing, so many people were handing out jelly babies and fruit the whole way round, cheering my name from my top and the buzz in the last 2 miles helped get me across the finish line, that’s for sure.

Hopefully I will be feeling better soon as we are off to Weston Lawns on Wednesday for their Easter extravaganza SJ competition which I’m very much looking forward to! After months and months of marathon training, I haven’t had much time to get out competing so now it’s time to have some fun. Fingers crossed we have a great show – check back here soon to read all about it!
