Rebecca Cowderoy Update

September 1, 2016 James Evans

“Everything is going very well, all the horses are going well and enjoying all the fantastic hacking!

I received a wild card for the Inter 1 at the Nationals to go with my direct qualification for the PSG. I was absolutely thrilled to find out I got one. So I’m competing on the Thursday 15th September in the PSG, and then Friday 16th September in the Inter 1, and if I finish in the top 14 I qualify for the Inter 1 Freestyle on Saturday 17th September.

Rabbit has suddenly in the last week or so just found more strength and is so powerful at the moment, I’ve just got to channel it so she’s working with me which isn’t always the case! She feels and looks incredible and I’m sure she’s going to be a Grand Prix horse – she feels mega. She is next out on 11th September to do 2 Novice tests and complete Novice Winter Regional qualification.

Ed has got his young horse with me and she’s going much better. Before I got her he’d been having big problems with her and lost his confidence. The first day I sat on her it was a bit of a rodeo and I couldn’t touch her mouth, but the difference in two weeks is just amazing. I’ve worked very hard on her balance and relaxation to make her more rideable. He’s now ridden her a few times and has got his confidence back with her – I also think she needs a routine.

I’ve got a young girl working for me in return for me breaking in her youngster – She’s very hard working and learns quickly. Unfortunately she’s going to college next week otherwise I’d have loved to keep her on, although she’ll do a couple of days a week for me still. Her horse is coming on nicely and has been sat on, and is now ready to trot and canter.

I’ve been loving the weather, I think I’ve got the best tan I’ve ever had (if you don’t look at my legs, they’re bright white!)”
