“Last weekend we were at Keysoe with Edd in the BE80 and Crème in the BE90. It was definitely worth the early start and long journey! Creme had a 32 dressage with some really good bits and a few not so good bits, then we had 2 down SJ. We had the second part of a 2 strides double down as we just got too close to it, and the second one was my fault for pushing him into the base of a parallel. Then he was great cross country he was loving it and he was really bold for the first time! Unfortunately he was a bit too bold and we did a massive jump over one jump and then we glanced off of the next fence because he lost his right shoulder on the left turn. But he was great for the rest of it making nothing of the combinations. It also poured with rain for creme’s XC and he completely ignored it and stayed focused.
It was Edd’s second BE event and he finished 6th! We had a good 30 dressage, but 2 down SJ. We had the first one down because he wasn’t paying attention to the jump and we were just a little close to the next. Then we had our first clear inside the time XC and the only jumps he looked at were the first and last jump.
This weekend was very busy, Edd had his BD Petplan Area Festival on Friday, mum and I went up to watch Burghley Cross Country on Saturday, and then Dinero was doing dressage on Sunday! We were really pleased with Edd again at the BD Petplan Area Festival where we finished 7th in the Novice Silver section with 67.15%. It was very close and the winner was only on 68%. We did think that he deserved a slightly higher mark, especially as two judges had him in 2nd and 3rd, but the other judge had him 15 marks lower. There are still some things to work on but he has come on so much recently.
