A very exciting week last week for Rebecca!
“Wow is all I can say… I had a wonderful day on Thursday at Hickstead Premier League with a PB score in the Inter 1 of 71.62, finishing 2nd in a very hot class. Absolutely over the moon! It felt like a nice test apart from the rear she did because she wouldn’t trot from canter, but you never know what the judges are going to think.
I then listened to my voicemail messages, I had one from British Dressage saying that I’d been selected for Hartpury CDI. I couldn’t quite believe it, I had to listen to the message again! I’m so excited to get a senior International and get my GB flags, Rebecca Cowderoy International rider has a nice ring to it!! So excited I can’t put it into words! Lisci is such a superstar and I can’t wait for her to strut her stuff and show everyone what she can do.
Saturday’s Inter 1 at Hickstead wasn’t quite as good, I think she was fed up with all the mud and the weather by then. The heavens opened as I went down the centre line to start my test which didn’t help matters and she got hotter and hotter as the test went on which caused a lot of tension, spooking and leaping. She didn’t like the puddles so was jumping those too! We still came out with a very good score considering all the blips of 68.25% to finish 4th, so it wasn’t to be but it does just show what a good horse she is to get that score with all the silly mistakes! The judges loved her, one even put “amazing horse”!
We were all relieved to get home as the mud was horrendous and such hard work, now for all the washing to commence! I’ve had so many forms to fill out for Hartpury and a busy time teaching and riding that I haven’t had a chance to relax yet! My other exciting news I had was that I’ve found a nice big yard to rent from August/September so I can start taking in horses on competition/sales/schooling livery, I’m so excited about this finally a yard of my own!”
If you would like to go and support Rebecca at Hartpury CDI, she will be competing on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July.
