Team GH – Rebecca Cowderoy Update

March 15, 2016 Paul Martin

“I had a fantastic week last week with the horses; I took Rabbit to use the indoor school again and she was brilliant. That set us up well for her competition debut on Sunday.

Lisci went for a lesson with Rhett Bird on Wednesday – she was amazing and she felt incredible. She’s finally strengthening up and is able to use her huge engine. Rhett was very pleased with our progress and improvement since our last lesson. I plan to book another lesson before we go to Myerscough Premier League.

The week finished off in great style with Rabbit winning first time out on Sunday a BD prelim at Swallowfield with 75.96% – 12% clear of 2nd place! She was very well behaved in the warm up and test, I couldn’t have asked for a lot more. The test was indoors and she went in there and just got on with the job, – she did get a little tense with some green mistakes and baby wobbles, and she pulled a little long so wasn’t quite as engaged as I’d have like but I couldn’t complain. We missed one of the canter transitions so lost a few marks there, she just wasn’t quite concentrating! I was over the moon with her performance and it’s exciting to know there is lots more to come and I’m so excited for future competitions.

Both horses are now entered for Myerscough Premier League, Lisci is doing 2 PSG’s and Rabbit is doing the 4yr old young horse qualifier. It’ll be long drive up north but an easy one straight up the M6, I’m hoping the weather is not too bad, I hate waking up in the lorry knowing it’s freezing cold outside the duvet!!”
