This week’s update from Evie Toombes Para Rider!
“What a busy week! two hospital visits to Nottingham, Pony Club show jumping training and fitting in some exercise on a lovely schoolmistress that Evie has kindly been allowed to ride (the aim being she starts to get the feel of riding a horse in preparation for next year). This lovely grey mare ‘Milton’ (pictured below) looks big but Evie wears the biggest smile riding her. She says “I just feel I can trust her whatever stride I’m on”. This is paramount as for Evie to be able to learn she must be able to make mistakes. The recent stirrup-less and bareback rIding has been useful in improving her balance (Roley is great for this). Pony Club training with British Showjumping coach Liz Pears involved an exercise with a central fence and then an option to branch left, right or straight ahead. The aim being to shorten, lengthen and think quickly to adapt (as happens in the ring). Check out the lovely coat on Roley thanks to Global herbs flax oil.”
