Laura had a great start to the season with Dinero finishing 3rd in the BE 100 at Tweseldown on his dressage score of 23, and Coast finished 9th in the BE90 with a lovely double clear.
Laura then took Dinero to the Open Novice at the South of England Horse Trials where they performed a beautiful dressage test scoring 24.8 to take them into the lead going into the show jumping. Sadly Dinero decided he wasn’t so sure about the second fence and put in a couple of stops, leaving them with 29 penalties. They had a good run around the cross country, unfortunately picking up another 20 jumping penalties and 11.2 time, but Laura was really pleased with how Dinero went. Unfortunately Dinero seems to have lost some confidence when it comes to jumping, however there were some parts of the showjumping and xc where he was amazing and flew around. Since then he has had his teeth checked and had an osteopath out to treat him, both showed some problems which could be the reason.
Following this, Laura had another great weekend eventing Coast. They did the 100 at Munstead unaffiliated and Coast was amazing. She did a lovely double clear, and was just 1 second over the time in the cross country. Unfortunately their dressage wasn’t great as they were in an arena next to a hedge and Coast was distracted by people and cars going along it. But over all Laura was very pleased because it was only Coast’s second event of the season and her first ever 100, she finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place.
Recently Laura has also taken Edd out XC schooling and he has also been going very well, so hopefully he will be out at some unaffiliated events this season.
Laura has a lot of university exams and deadlines coming up so due to the time and commitment that it takes to keep an event horse fit she may not be out eventing until after her exams, but she may take Dinero and Edd out to some dressage competitions.
We wish you the best of luck in your exams Laura, from all the team at Global Herbs!
