Equine Herpes viruses cause a number of serious problems in
horses. The equine herpes viruses tend to last a long time in the body
and often do not respond well even to vaccination. There are two
main types of equine virus which can be vaccinated against.
The two main diseases are:
- Breathing problems especially in foals and yearlings
- Abortion - sometimes with nervous signs
If you suspect problems of this nature in your horse always call your vet
and he will advise the best course of action. Nutritional
support for your horse’s immune system can often be an important
way of insuring quick recovery and good response to vaccination.
