A quick update from Camilla before she heads off to Glastonbury – we hope she doesn’t get too wet! – GH
“It seems this week our house managed to escape the flash flooding that has affected most parts of the region. It was, however, prevalent when I visited Bolesworth International on Wednesday to help groom for Bonnie Fishburn. At 8am the lorry park was already scattered with sunken lorries and tractor imprints! Mud avoided, Bonnie’s 4 year old went in to do the BYEH class. A fascinating class to watch with a real range of horses, Bonnie’s Elfie did a lovely dressage belying his age, and jumped happily around the show jumps, despite the ring being full of cross country fences, banners and flags, as well as some mud! An enjoyable day spent the other side of the strings in the sunshine.
Then came the news I was expecting, Catton Park horse trials cancelled their Saturday competition, the day me and Beau had entered. Sadly this means no chances of a regional final ticket for this year, and no hope to revisit Badminton. We now need to plan out maybe going Novice…..
As is our way, quick phone call and reroute to Kingswood Equestrian Arena Eventing, with another little outing for Bailey. He’s done nothing but a little hacking since his last outing, so I wasn’t sure if 80 cm was going to be a challenge. Well, he was, as usual, cool as a cucumber, skipping around the 7 show jumps and 8 rustic xc fences clear like a pro! Little video of Bailey: https://youtu.be/7Jr0R98S1t4
Beau didn’t get out of work either and came along for the 1m and 1m10. He thoroughly enjoyed himself, winning the 1m and barely breathing on the style to have it down in the 1m10 for 2nd place.”
